The Recorder: O’Melveny Continues Technology Hiring Spree, Adding Wilson Sonsini Partner

July 26, 2021

The Recorder reported that technology dealmaker Bradley Finkelstein has joined O’Melveny’s Silicon Valley office as a partner. Finkelstein has more than two decades of experience in mergers and acquisitions, including Altera’s US$17 billion acquisition by Intel and LinkedIn’s US$26 billion acquisition by Microsoft. Finkelstein shared with the publication that O’Melveny’s culture, strong M&A practice, and “commitment to growing its corporate practice in a very deliberate manner” all helped to inspire his move.

David Makarechian, chair of O’Melveny’s emerging technologies group and head of O’Melveny’s Northern California corporate department, cited the firm’s strength in regulatory areas that often impact technology deals, such as foreign investment and antitrust. “Our thesis in Silicon Valley has been deals would continue to get larger, more complicated, and perhaps have more of a government overlay to them, and we see that continuing,” he told the publication. “We see M&A activity being very strong, and we see deals continuing to get more complicated, which plays to our strengths.”

Finkelstein “is a brand name in Silicon Valley deal circles, and his sterling credentials and high-stakes experience will benefit clients,” said Brophy Christensen, co-chair of O’Melveny’s corporate department. “He will advance our strategic objective of achieving market leadership in the technology sector.”
