Jae Chi provides strategic and legal counseling to multinational companies on their most complex legal issues, drawing on his deep understanding of the challenges that top executives and GCs of global companies face.

Before joining O’Melveny, Jae spent more than 25 years as a strategist, negotiator, and C-suite practitioner at Samsung, one of the largest companies in the world. As Head of the Global Legal Affairs team at Samsung Electronics, he oversaw a host of global legal issues, including in the areas of mergers & acquisitions, intellectual property, antitrust and other litigation and arbitration, commercial contracts, and regulations. In that role, he achieved remarkable victories in a number of high-profile cases on the international stage.

Notably, Jae oversaw antitrust litigation and investigations in the United States, European Union, and other jurisdictions involving cathode ray tubes and optical disk drives. He developed litigation and negotiation strategies in multibillion-dollar licensing negotiations and disputes with licensors and suppliers. And Jae was himself a lead negotiator on such high-stakes matters.

Given his leadership experience at a company with more than 300,000 employees and more than US$200 billion in annual revenues, Jae is recognized for his ability to provide practical solutions and guidance on complex business and legal problems, including in a cross-border and multidisciplinary context.
