Groundwater Modeling and More 2026: “From Raindrop to Reservoir”
June 8, 2026
O’Melveny partner Russ McGlothlin will be a guest speaker at the Groundwater Modeling and More 2026 Conference hosted by Princeton University. He will participate in the Sustainability Lunch Panel discussing role models in adjudications and other water rights disputes. McGlothlin is an experienced water resource attorney and highly active in the development of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act, as well as laws designed to reform judicial procedures related to groundwater basin disputes and has an exceptional understanding of high stakes groundwater management issues in California.
“This panel brings together technical, knowledge transfer, and legal experts at the forefront of water resource analysis to engage in an open, moderated discussion on the use of models in water rights disputes and adjudications. The session opens with a 15-minute talk covering key technical concepts, including approaches to estimating available water resources, resolving methodological differences, the concept of “Adversarial Collaboration,” and the strategies for managing and communicating model limitations. Panelists will represent a range of perspectives, from technical modeling and policy transfer to legal practice, offering attendees a rich, cross-disciplinary dialogue on how models shape and inform high-stakes water rights decisions.”
