O’Melveny’s newest Fintech partner, AnnaLou Tirol, formerly the Deputy Director of the US Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), will join a panel discussing how to navigate the rapidly evolving world of digital assets at the NAPABA Convention in Las Vegas. “According to DappRadar, NFT trade volume exceeded US$24.9 billion in 2021, and the market value of cryptocurrencies exceeds a trillion dollars.” The Biden administration’s March 3 Executive Order instructed the Treasury Department and other federal agencies to study, and issue within six months, recommendations to properly regulate this developing industry to ensure consumer protection, discourage illicit use, and help mitigate the impact on national security interests.
