With extensive regulatory knowledge and experience, our team routinely handles actions by the US and Chinese governments, including the NDRD, MOFCOM, CSRC, SAFE, SASAC, and SAT, among others. We represent multinational corporations in search of central government approvals and licenses to do business in China; US corporations stymied by US regulation of their businesses in China; and clients navigating China’s Anti-Monopoly Law and international merger control rules. Beijing also is the center of O’Melveny’s tax practice in China.

Our Beijing office also handles litigation matters for Chinese and multinational corporations that arise from investment in and trade with China, including arbitration and mediation in China and other jurisdictions. Although foreign law firms cannot represent parties in Chinese courts, O’Melveny’s clients often seek counsel on litigation strategy or complex issues that arise in transnational litigation.
