O’Melveny Again Takes Top Spot in The American Lawyer’s Midlevel Associates Survey

NEW YORK—August 22, 2023—O’Melveny ranked #1 for associate satisfaction in The American Lawyer’s 2023 Midlevel Associates Survey of more than 70 law firms nationwide—the second time in just four years that the firm has placed first, and the firm’s ninth consecutive appearance in the top four.

In regional office rankings, associates selected O’Melveny #1 in Century City, Dallas, Newport Beach, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Washington, DC. The firm’s Los Angeles office was ranked #2 and the New York office #4.

For the fourth year in a row, O’Melveny took the top spot for technology, reflecting the firm’s remarkable success in supporting its lawyers and business professionals in the hybrid work environment. Associates also rated the firm highly for the value it places on pro bono work, how well partners and associates work together, and how interesting and important associates’ work is.

Each year The American Lawyer surveys third-, fourth-, and fifth-level associates on aspects of job satisfaction, including work opportunities, compensation and benefits, training and guidance, and interaction with partners and other associates. This year O’Melveny associates had a 90.6% response rate, with 116 lawyers participating.
