O’Melveny Named Equal Access to Justice Champion for Outstanding Pro Bono Commitment

O’Melveny has been named an Equal Access to Justice Champion by Houston Volunteer Lawyers (HVL) in recognition of the firm’s exceptional commitment to pro bono legal services in the Houston community.
The distinction honors law firms that meet HVL’s annual pro bono pledge, which runs annually from June 1-May 31 and requires firms to accept one pro bono case for every five attorneys in their Houston office. O’Melveny has not only met but exceeded this commitment every year since the firm opened its Houston office, taking on six pro bono cases in the most recent bar year—double its three-case requirement.
O’Melveny pro bono teams in Houston have helped parents secure the right to care for their adult children, provided stability to families in crisis, cleared criminal records for individuals seeking a fresh start, and prepared wills for elderly clients.
“The impacts of your actions extend beyond the lives you’ve changed for your clients, fostering a spirit of volunteerism in Houston’s legal community that makes this work possible,” said Brittany Krohn, Pro Bono Director at Houston Volunteer Lawyers.

Houston Volunteer Lawyers is the pro bono arm of the Houston Bar Association, connecting volunteer attorneys with low-income Houstonians who need legal assistance but cannot afford representation.
