O’Melveny & Myers LLP was featured in The American Lawyer’s January 26 edition of its “Litigator of the Week: Runners-Up and Shout Outs” column. The publication highlighted an O’Melveny trial team that secured a win for a Chubb Group affiliate in an insurance dispute with a real estate mogul seeking US$20 million for smoke and water damage to a mansion in Montecito, CA. The team was led by partner Leah Godesky and included partners Madhu Pocha and Anton Metlitsky. The publication also highlighted a separate O’Melveny team that secured a Second Circuit decision upholding the dismissal of a class-action suit against UnitedHealth Group, which was accused of violating the Employee Retirement Income Security Act by refusing to pay fees that surgeons charged for office-based surgeries.
