ABA Journal: Former Biden Chief of Staff Ron Klain Reflects on Life in Law and Politics

Ron Klain, the former chief of staff to President Joe Biden, re-joined O’Melveny & Myers LLP last month as a partner in its Litigation Department. Klain, who is also leading the firm’s Strategic Counseling and Crisis Management Practice, will split time between O’Melveny’s Washington, DC and New York offices and advise clients on a range of litigation and policy issues, including controversies over environmental, social, and governance matters. “I think a good lawyer should be ready to make a decision on whatever information they have … and when they need to make the decision.” While the decision may change as more information becomes available, Klain noted, “the point of being a good lawyer is being able to provide sound advice in the moment when it’s needed [and] not when you’re ready to give it. That’s really critical.”
