A Los Angeles jury ruled in favor of Federal Insurance Company in its dispute with a plaintiff who sought US$20 million for damages to her home in Montecito resulting from the 2018 Thomas wildfire and subsequent flood. “We were able to tell a very bulletproof story, and we trusted the jurors to set aside all emotions and knee-jerk reactions, follow the facts, and get the right result,” said O’Melveny partner Leah Godesky, who led the defense for Federal Insurance Company, a Chubb affiliate.
