Law360: O’Melveny Adds Two CLO Experts From Orrick In NY And LA
June 2, 2025
O’Melveny announced today that a duo of leading structured finance and securitization specialists—Howard Goldwasser and Skanthan Vivekananda—have joined the firm’s New York and Los Angeles offices as partners in the Corporate Finance Practice Group. “O’Melveny has a lot of clients in areas that have a demand for structured finance and securitization expertise and a desire to introduce us to those clients,” Vivekananda said. “And some of those areas are particularly high-value kinds of work, like oil and gas, lease securitization, music securitization [and] more esoteric kinds of work. So for us, that was very attractive because we have a pretty mature and profitable [collateralized loan obligation] practice, but we would love to grow our structured practice into different areas.” Goldwasser said: “We have been running a league table-ranked CLO practice really since the return of that market after the great financial crisis, and we have no doubt that that practice will follow us here and that we can maintain that practice and grow it, frankly, through introductions to O’Melveny clients that are also looking to be involved in that space, or are already involved in that space, but there’s also a very unique opportunity for us to start doing more work in other asset classes as well through the clients of the firm.” O’Melveny chair Bradley J. Butwin said that Goldwasser and Vivekananda are “tremendously creative, innovative, and respected lawyers with a track record of creating novel transaction structures for an array of sophisticated clients.” This story was also covered by The American Lawyer, Bloomberg Law, and Secured Finance Network.
