Law360: Paramount Head Countersues Over US$150M ‘Shakedown’ Suit

Jeff Shell has sued a self-deputized crisis communications adviser for extortion and defamation, a countermove “against the plaintiff he says is a professional gambler who ‘overplayed his hand’ perpetrating a ‘shakedown.’” The filing was in response to the earlier lawsuit accusing the Paramount Skydance president of reneging on a deal involving a TV show. The O’Melveny team representing Shell includes partners Steve Olson, Tim Heafner, and Lindsey Greer Dotson, counsel Sam Donohue, and associates Larson Ishii and Emma Lux.
