O’Melveny Bolsters Its Capital Markets Team with Houston Corporate Adviser James R. Brown

HOUSTON—March 4, 2026—O’Melveny announced today that accomplished capital markets lawyer and corporate adviser James R. Brown has joined the firm’s Houston office as a partner in the Capital Markets Practice, bolstering the team’s Texas capabilities and expanding its formidable nationwide roster of leading corporate practitioners.
Brown brings nearly 20 years of experience to O’Melveny representing issuers and underwriters in initial public offerings, public and private offerings of equity and debt securities, and SPAC transactions. He also provides additional corporate counsel, advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, public company reporting, SEC compliance and disclosure matters, and corporate finance and related debt restructuring. The Legal 500 US has recognized Brown as one of the nation’s top corporate lawyers, and his work spans a range of industries that align with O’Melveny’s strengths, including energy and infrastructure.
Brown comes to O’Melveny from the Houston office of Holland & Knight, where he was a member of that firm’s Corporate Services, Public Companies & Securities, Private Equity, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Midstream Practices. His arrival accelerates O’Melveny’s rapid expansion in the Lone Star State. He is the fifth lateral partner to join the firm’s Houston office in two years. And since 2021, O’Melveny has added nearly 90 lawyers—including 31 partners—across its offices in Houston, Dallas, and Austin.

Brown earned his J.D. cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center and his B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
