O’Melveny Expands Singapore Team with Experienced Finance Lawyer John Curran

SINGAPORE—October 20, 2025—O’Melveny announced today that experienced and versatile finance lawyer John Curran has joined the firm’s Singapore office as a partner in the Corporate Finance Practice, further strengthening O’Melveny’s cross-border capabilities while also expanding its capacity across Asia.
Curran brings deep experience advising private equity sponsors, strategic investors, corporates, arrangers, and credit funds on a variety of complex financing transactions across the Asia-Pacific region, with a focus on cross-border acquisition and leveraged financings throughout Southeast Asia and India. He also has extensive experience advising sponsors, corporates, and private credit clients on investments in special situations involving stressed or distressed companies.
Recognized as a “Rising Star” for Banking and Finance by IFLR1000, Curran comes to O’Melveny from the Hong Kong office of Kirkland & Ellis, where he was a partner in that firm’s Debt Finance Practice. Prior to that, he worked in the London and Singapore offices of Allen & Overy (now A&O Shearman). His addition further propels O’Melveny’s strategic Singapore growth—he is the third lateral corporate partner to join O’Melveny’s Singapore office in just the past year, after partners Stephanie Keen and Sylvia Taslim joined the firm in October 2024.

Curran’s arrival bolsters O’Melveny’s rapidly expanding Corporate Finance Practice, which has added 14 partners in the last five years. The firm’s broad finance platform comprises award-winning capabilities in aviation, energy, infrastructure, music and entertainment, real estate, and leveraged and acquisition finance, as well as private credit and bank finance.
Curran also accelerates O’Melveny’s firmwide strategic growth. He is the 42nd lateral partner to join the firm since 2023, including 25 corporate partners based in the firm’s Singapore, London, New York, Los Angeles, Century City, Dallas, and Houston offices.
Curran earned his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Durham University in the United Kingdom and completed his Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (LPC) at BPP University. He is qualified and admitted to practice as a solicitor in England and Wales.
