O’Melveny Welcomes Leading International Antitrust Lawyer Vanessa Turner to Its Brussels Office

BRUSSELS—July 15, 2025—O’Melveny announced today that leading international antitrust lawyer Vanessa Turner has joined the firm’s Brussels office as a partner in the Antitrust & Competition Practice Group. Her arrival bolsters the firm’s European antitrust capabilities and expands its worldwide roster of top-tier antitrust practitioners.
For more than 30 years, Turner has successfully handled a wide array of high-profile antitrust and competition matters, with a particular focus on representing clients in abuse of dominance, merger, and cartel enforcement cases. Turner also has deep experience with the new EU Digital Markets Act, a key pillar of the EU’s digital regulatory strategy centered on competition and innovation. At O’Melveny, Turner will assist clients to make use of the opportunities in digital markets brought about by the Digital Markets Act. She will also advise on cartel and antitrust investigations and EU, UK, and German national merger control. She is a qualified lawyer in both the United Kingdom and Germany.
Turner comes to O’Melveny from BEUC, the European Consumer Organization, where she served as a senior advisor and represented consumers’ interests in European competition policy and enforcement cases, with an emphasis on technology, the digital economy, and sustainability. She was also involved in BEUC’s intervention, as a third party, in key EU antitrust and merger cases before the European Commission and EU courts. Earlier in her career, Turner served in the European Commission as an advisor to the Competition Commissioner and a member of their cabinet, and she also served as Special Advisor for EU Affairs to the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, DC. Additionally, Turner held an in-house role at Visa Europe as general counsel and executive vice president. In private practice, she most recently worked as a London- and Brussels-based partner in the Competition Group at Allen & Overy (now A&O Shearman).

Turner’s addition accelerates O’Melveny’s continued strategic growth. She is the second lateral partner in Brussels to join O’Melveny’s Antitrust & Competition Practice Group in recent months—after partner Stéphane Frank rejoined the firm in March. And Turner is the 39th lateral partner to join the firm since 2023.
Turner graduated from the University of Surrey (UK) and earned her Law Master from the College of Law (UK) and the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium).
