Above The Law: Biglaw Partners Give Back To Community With Tremendous Results

The Los Angeles Metropolitan Debate League (LAMDL) continues to grow with the help of contributions from those in the legal profession. Created in 2008, the LAMDL is a non-profit organization that provides low-income high school students with opportunities to engage in policy debate through its programs, tournaments, and camps. Since 2010, every high school senior who went through the LAMDL program graduated on time, and went to either a two-year or four-year college, a local trade school, or into national service. LAMDL’s executive director Michael Cirelli said they have only “scratched the surface” when it comes to increasing participation in their programs. The LAMDL receives contributions from O’Melveny & Myers LLP and a number of other Biglaw firms.
