The American Lawyer/Texas Lawyer: In Further Texas Expansion, O’Melveny Opens Dallas Office With Norton Rose Team

June 29, 2021

The opening of O’Melveny’s new Dallas office, the firm’s second Texas location, was highlighted on law.com by The American Lawyer and Texas Lawyer. The article notes this was the firm’s first new domestic office in 20 years and was a client-driven decision designed to meet the needs of large companies based in Texas, including AT&T, American Airlines, and Exxon Mobil.

As reported in the coverage, the firm emphasized that the new Dallas team already hold a strong working relationship, having practiced together for over 15 years, and have highly compatible practices that will blend well with O’Melveny’s existing capabilities. Partners Louis Strubeck Jr. and Gregory Wilkes joined O’Melveny’s restructuring practice, partner Scott Drake joined the bankruptcy litigation practice, and partner Douglas Wabner joined the products liability and mass torts practice.

“Everything we do is client-centric. We don’t devise strategies in a vacuum and try to figure it out. We don’t open up a lot of offices,” O’Melveny chair Brad Butwin said. Butwin added he was thrilled to welcome the “high quality team,” because “it was so palpable how much our values aligned, how closely knit they were.”
