The American Lawyer: Wilmer, Latham and O’Melveny Lawyers Crowd Revolving Door Into Biden Administration

The American Lawyer recognized a group of O’Melveny lawyers and alumni that will be joining the Biden Administration, filling positions in the White House, Justice Department, and other federal agencies.
O’Melveny alumnus Alejandro Mayorkas was confirmed by the Senate as Secretary of Homeland Security. “A former Obama-era DHS official who’s been a partner at the firm since 2016, Mayorkas will be the sole member of President Joe Biden’s cabinet to come directly from Big Law,” the publication reported.
The firm’s Data Security and Privacy Group co-chair Lisa Monaco is slated to take the number two spot in the DOJ as Deputy Attorney General. She formerly served as homeland security adviser during the Obama Administration after working as chief of staff to FBI director Robert Mueller.
O’Melveny counsel Jennifer Sokoler and associate Ephraim McDowell will join the White House Counsel’s Office as associate counsel and deputy associate counsel, respectively.
Additionally, O’Melveny alumnus Ron Klain will serve as President Biden’s Chief of Staff.
