Associated Press: Boy Scouts submit reorganization plan to bankruptcy court

March 1, 2021

The Boy Scouts of America published its plan to exit bankruptcy following thousands of sexual abuse accusations made against Scout leaders that tarnished the once lauded youth organization’s reputation, this article reported. In response to the plan, the Boy Scouts’ insurers have argued that as many as 1400 claims, roughly 1.5 percent of the 95,000 claims filed, may be erroneous.

“The court needs to first implement a process to root out the bad claims generated by for-profit claims aggregators and misleading advertising campaigns,” said Tancred Schiavoni, an O’Melveny partner representing one of the insurers.
