Bloomberg Law: Big Law Embraces Juneteenth With Programs, Days Off for Workers

“We are observing Juneteenth as a commitment to racial justice,” Mary Ellen Connerty, O’Melveny’s director of diversity and engagement, told Bloomberg Law in this article addressing how law firms are recognizing Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the US.
Connerty noted that observances like Juneteenth “are opportunities for minorities to be seen and heard. We want to recruit more minorities, but it’s probably more important to retain the people we have and make sure they are heard and that there is a dialogue going on.”
