Bloomberg Law: Kentucky Court Ruling Blocking Abortion Bans Stays in Effect

The Kentucky Supreme Court denied an emergency motion by Attorney General Daniel Cameron to stop an order by Chief Judge Mitch Perry of the Kentucky Circuit Court that temporarily blocked the state’s enforcement of two abortion laws. One of the laws is a ban on abortions after the sixth week of pregnancy and the other is a trigger ban that went into effect after the US Supreme Court’s ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade. Craig Henry PLC, ACLU of Kentucky, O’Melveny & Myers LLP, American Civil Liberties Union Foundation, and Planned Parenthood Federation of America represent abortion providers in the suit arguing that Kentucky’s constitution provides protection for abortion rights.
