Daily Journal: Other states copy California’s Consumer Privacy Act

After the passage of California’s Consumer Privacy Act in 2018, other states are now beginning to follow suit, this article reported.
“There’s definitely an accelerated trend in states,” said O’Melveny special counsel Scott Pink. “There are differences, but for the most part they are modeled after the CCPA.” Pink added that the similarities he sees between California’s privacy act and proposals from other states include general corporate requirements, consumer rights, and notable exceptions.
Daily Journal describes Pink as “the guy who wrote the book” on the CCPA. His 278-page treatise, “California Consumer Privacy Act Annotated,” dissects the law in great detail.
