Daily Journal: Steve Olson Named to Daily Journal’s 2021 “Top White Collar Lawyers” List

O’Melveny partner Steve Olson has been named among the Daily Journal’s 2021 “Top White Collar Lawyers.” The list features the publication’s selection of the top 25 white collar lawyers practicing in California. In its profile of Olson, who serves as Co-Chair of O’Melveny’s White Collar Defense & Corporate Investigations Practice, the Daily Journal recognized the task he undertook as interim general counsel at Hyundai Motors while still a partner at O’Melveny. “I immediately recognized the opportunity to get to know an important client in a very important industry in a completely different way,” Olson said. During his leadership of Hyundai’s 40-person legal team from March to September, Olson held a meeting with the Biden administration on electric vehicle infrastructure improvements, collaborated with outside trial counsel on a dealer fraud case in Florida, and oversaw labor issues, product liability litigation, transactions, HR problems, and white-collar crime allegations. “I got to learn that the general in general counsel is a good description because the work you do is so generalized,” he said. “One thing I learned this year is that having two jobs is about as challenging as it sounds.”
