Daily Journal: Title IX Specialty Firm Opens in Palo Alto, Anticipating Rule Changes

June 3, 2021

The #MeToo movement has exponentially increased the number of Title IX cases, and the examination of regulations surrounding sex-based discrimination and sexual assault is likely to continue, this article reported.

Apalla U. Chopra, a partner in O’Melveny’s Labor and Employment practice as well as the co-chair of the firm’s Litigation Department, told Daily Journal that she expects an uptick in Title IX and other student conduct proceedings as colleges and universities reopen.

“The Biden administration’s focus on Title IX also portends more change in the future,” Chopra said. “With more and different regulations coming both at the federal and state levels, there is, unfortunately, bound to be litigation that follows.”
