Daily Journal: Top Antitrust Lawyers 2022

O’Melveny partner Anna Pletcher has been named to the Daily Journal’s 2022 list of “Top Antitrust Lawyers.” The special report honors the best attorneys in California “focusing on antitrust matters such as price fixing and unfair competition.” Pletcher was recognized for her role as co-lead counsel for former Pilgrim’s Pride CEO Jayson Penn in three criminal antitrust trials following accusations of a scheme to rig bids for broiler chicken products from 2012-2019. Two of the trials resulted in hung juries. In July, Penn and other poultry executives were acquitted. Pletcher conducted the direct examination of an expert economist for the defense. “We got a fantastic result,” Pletcher said. “He explained the rationale for company executives to talk to each other. When he testified, I could see the jury sit up and listen.”
