FTCWatch: DOJ’s Schiller Goes Back to Private Practice

March 15, 2021

O’Melveny partner Julia Schiller spoke with FTCWatch about her recent return to the firm after four years at the US Department of Justice.

“It was a privilege to serve the public at the Justice Department, but I am happy to go back to O’Melveny because I know what an incredibly talented team I will be rejoining,” she told the publication.

Highlights from Schiller’s time in public service include a merger review of Bayer and Monsanto as well as the DOJ’s challenge to Novelis’ proposed merger with Aleris Corp, which resulted in the first arbitrated settlement of a merger case. “It was an historic case and the first time we used a power given to us by Congress in 1996,” she noted. “It was a privilege to work on both the policy aspects of the case and on the litigation team.”
