Global Competition Review: Former DOJ Counsel Rejoins O’Melveny & Myers

February 23, 2021

Julia Schiller, former counsel to the Assistant Attorney General of the US Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, has rejoined O’Melveny as a partner in the Washington, DC office, Global Competition Review reported.

While at the DOJ, Schiller worked closely with Assistant Attorney General Makan Delrahim, advising on the investigation into Bayer/Monsanto, which at the time involved the largest-ever merger divestiture negotiated by the US antitrust agencies, and serving as counsel in the Aleris/Novelis case, in which the Antitrust Division used arbitration to settle a lawsuit for the first time. Schiller’s additional accomplishments at the DOJ included developing updated guidance regarding the use of arbitration in antitrust cases, creating the modernized Merger Remedies Manual, and developing policies that aimed to update the merger review process, such as a revised model timing agreement for investigations.
