Global Restructuring Review: Former Norton Rose Restructuring Chair Joins O’Melveny in Texas

June 30, 2021

Global Restructuring Review discussed the launch of O’Melveny’s new office in Dallas, its new partners, and the firm’s future plans for expansion and growth in multiple key areas. Former Norton Rose restructuring chair Louis Strubeck joined O’Melveny as partner with Greg Wilkes, Scott Drake, and Douglas Wabner just three weeks after the firm opened a new office in Austin.

“We’re delighted to launch in Dallas with four top-notch partners whose practices build on several of our existing practice and industry strengths,” O’Melveny chair Bradley Butwin told the publication.

O’Melveny vice chair Mark Samuels added that the new partners “bring national reputations for excellence in their respective fields and will deepen our capabilities in restructuring as well as in life sciences litigation – areas where O’Melveny is widely considered best-in-class.”

John Rapisardi, O’Melveny’s global restructuring chair, noted that the new offices “will give us more of a reach into the energy sector” and that the Dallas addition “broadens and deepens our bankruptcy and litigation practices.”

The article also referenced Strubeck’s past work on high-profile restructurings, including for Swiss commodity trader Mercuria Energy Group and Canadian heavy haul transportation company ENTREC, and Wilkes’ work with Danaos on a US$2.2 billion out-of-court restructuring.
