Law360: Chubb Unit Lands Win In Superstorm Sandy Damage Fight

A New York federal jury ruled that Chubb unit Great Northern Insurance Co. does not need to provide coverage for Madelaine Chocolate Novelties as a result of business interruption losses and property damages from Superstorm Sandy. Madelaine originally filed suit in 2015 claiming that damages sustained to its manufacturing facility forced the company to halt operations, which caused losses in business income. Great Northern argued that a flood exclusion in the policy freed it from providing coverage. The Chubb unit is represented by Jonathan Rosenberg, Jonathan Hacker, and Leah Godesky of O’Melveny & Myers LLP.
