Law360: Judge Calls Brazos Ch. 11 Plan Better Than Expected

US Bankruptcy Judge David Jones approved Brazos Electric Power Cooperative Inc.’s Chapter 11 plan, which will settle billions of dollars in claims and take the company out of the electrical generation business. The co-op filed for bankruptcy in March 2021 after receiving a US$2.2 billion bill from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) following Winter Storm Uri in February 2021. “This is so much better than what I had in mind,” Judge Jones said. Brazos Electric Power Cooperative Inc. is represented by Louis R. Strubeck Jr., Nick Hendrix, and Laura Smith of O’Melveny & Myers LLP.
