Law360: ‘Momentum Takes Over’ O’Melveny’s Growth In Texas

O’Melveny & Myers LLP announced earlier this week the opening of an office in Houston, marking its third Texas location where the firm now has a presence. “The momentum takes over. The Houston strategy was informed by the success in Dallas and Austin,” O’Melveny chair Bradley Butwin said. The firm’s new office was launched with three corporate attorneys from Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP—Angela Olivarez, Steven V. Torello, and Ryan Cicero—who have different specializations. “The firm was able to attract a very impressive roster here in Texas,” Olivarez said. “Frankly, the market is very hot and strong people have a lot of options and we saw a lot of people picking O’Melveny … It just solidified our view that the name carries a lot of weight, even in Texas, where the firm hadn't previously had offices.” Butwin noted that the firm hopes to add more litigators, restructuring attorneys, and labor and intellectual property attorneys in Texas. “So far it’s been a corporate-heavy initiative, which is fine, which is good.
