Law360: O’Melveny Hires Morgan Lewis Partner In Texas

O’Melveny has added trial lawyer Danny Ashby as a partner in its Dallas office. Ashby, who has tried more than 25 cases and more than a dozen federal appeals, joined O’Melveny’s white collar defense and corporate investigations practice. “We have the luxury of not just relying on his public reputation but knowing firsthand that he’s a really, really good lawyer,” O’Melveny litigation department co-chair Rich Goetz said. Ashby is a former federal prosecutor and special assistant US attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia, and is currently working on a US Supreme Court representing a Texas tribe. O’Melveny hired a five-partner corporate team from Locke Lord earlier this month and Ashby is the firm’s 16th partner in the Lone Star State since opening offices in both Austin and Dallas last June. O’Melveny chair Brad Butwin told the publication that the firm is not done hiring in Texas and has plans for material growth in the state.
