New York Law Journal: O’Melveny Adds Former SDNY Unit Chief to Growing White-Collar Practice

O’Melveny & Myers LLP has hired Rebecca Mermelstein as a partner in New York in the firm's white collar defense and corporate investigations practice. Mermelstein, who previously served as co-chief of the Southern District of New York’s General Crimes Unit, said that O’Melveny’s reputation as a litigation “powerhouse” is what drew her to the firm, citing its roster of lawyers with deep trial experience who are “out there really trying cases.” The addition of Mermelstein is part of O’Melveny’s recent expansion of its white collar group, which AnnaLou Tirol, former Deputy Director of the US Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, and Sid Mody, a former prosecutor for the US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas, joined this year. “I love trying cases. I tried a dozen cases as a prosecutor. That’s the skill set I really enjoyed building and would hate to not be able to continue to use. And so being somewhere where people really are trial lawyers, I think, was an important fit for me,” Mermelstein said.
