Pasadena Now: Los Angeles County and City Lead Coalition in Amicus Brief To Support DACA Program

The city and county of Los Angeles led a public coalition in an amicus brief calling on the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit to overturn a July decision against the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The program allows some undocumented US residents to receive protection from deportation if they were brought to the US as children. According to the American Medical Association, 30,000 DACA recipients work as health care professionals. The brief is co-led by O’Melveny & Myers LLP and partner Daniel Suvor said that the firm is “proud to support … all of the politically, socially, economically, and geographically diverse localities across the country that are united in their unwavering commitment to ensuring that Dreamers can continue to contribute to their communities and achieve their goals.”
