Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Pennsylvania Lawmakers Won’t Appeal Landmark School Funding Ruling

Pennsylvania lawmakers did not file an appeal to Commonwealth Court President Judge Renée Cohn Jubelirer’s February ruling that declared the state’s educational funding system unconstitutional. Six school districts sued the state in 2014 over claims that the public school funding model violated the education clause and equal protection provisions in the state’s constitution and discriminated against students in low-income districts. O’Melveny, along with the Education Law Center and Public Interest Law Center, represented the school districts.
