Reuters: Brazos Bankruptcy Judge Rejects Arbitration For US$770 Million Contract Claim

US Bankruptcy Judge David Jones rejected Sandy Creek Energy Associates LP’s request for Brazos Electric Power Cooperative Inc to arbitrate a contract dispute worth up to US$770 million outside of bankruptcy court. Brazos filed for bankruptcy in March 2021 after receiving US$2.2 billion in wholesale power bills following the February 2021 Texas storm. Brazos is represented by Lou Strubeck and Nick Hendrix of O’Melveny.
