Sonenshine Pro Bono Reception Honors Hana Oh

November 8, 2022

O’Melveny counsel Hana Oh was honored for outstanding pro bono contributions benefiting the Orange County community at the 2022 Sonenshine Pro Bono Reception held recently in Newport Beach, CA.

The annual event was conceived by Honorable Sheila Prell Sonenshine in 1994 and has inspired successful outcomes for many local cases by connecting Orange County attorneys with social services, arts, and cultural organizations, and supporting their involvement and commitment to pro bono work and charitable opportunities.

Oh was honored for her pro bono work with Human Options, a local organization committed to helping and healing victims of domestic violence. In a recent effort in partnership with Human Options, Oh secured a five-year restraining order—the maximum time period possible—on behalf of a domestic violence victim. “[I can] now build my life and my dreams, which I didn’t think was possible before,” Oh’s client said after the restraining order was issued.

Oh maintains an active pro bono practice, particularly in advocating for domestic violence victims. Among other representations, she argued for and obtained asylum in the US on behalf of three siblings from Guatemala who were victims of domestic abuse and U Visas for a sexual abuse victim and his family.
