SupplyChainBrain: Watch: The Private Sector’s Role in Biden’s Infrastructure Plan

O’Melveny Project Finance and Development partner Liz Dubeck spoke with SupplyChainBrain regarding President Biden’s infrastructure initiative and the potential advantages for private-sector involvement.

“There are a lot of opportunities to find profitable and efficient ways to have the private sector participate,” Dubeck said, while also acknowledging that “public-private partnership doesn’t mean we get these projects for free.” Dubeck emphasized that “investors need to be paid back — compensated for the work they do, and earn an equity return.” In terms of private investment, Dubeck suggested that less appealing infrastructure targets may require an alternative form of public funding, but “that’s not to say that private investment is off the table.”
