Texas Lawyer: Baker Botts Litigator Joins O’Melveny in Dallas

Litigator Kristin Cope has joined O’Melveny as a partner in Dallas. The firm, which opened offices in both Austin and Dallas in 2021, has grown its Texas lawyer count to 21. Cope rejoins O’Melveny litigation partner Tim Durst as they both worked together at their previous firm, Baker Botts. Cope noted O’Melveny’s platform and people, saying that the firm is a “litigation powerhouse” that champions women trial lawyers well. “It’s not just lip service,” she said. Cope, who expects many of her clients to continue to work with her, said that litigation is a “team sport” and that O’Melveny’s collaboration is a plus. “She is an incredibly talented, standup trial lawyer,” Durst said about Cope. O’Melveny chair Bradley Butwin said that Cope is “an acclaimed, talented litigator” and that her experience is an immediate asset to O’Melveny’s clients in Texas and elsewhere. Cope, whose expertise is in trade secrets and technology, handles complex commercial litigation and appellate matters.
