O’Melveny & Myers LLP has hired energy transactions lawyer Ryan Sears as a partner in its Dallas office. “It was really a great opportunity to join O’Melveny, a powerhouse law firm with a real clear commitment to Texas and a strong commitment to culture,” said Sears, who is joining O’Melveny’s project development and real estate, and energy groups. Sears represents oil and gas companies and focuses on M&A and asset-based transactions. “O’Melveny has shown its commitment, not just dipping its toe in the water, but really building out substantial offices … to have a substantial presence in the energy space,” said Jason Schumacher, an O’Melveny partner who previously worked with Sears.
