The Global Legal Post: O’Melveny Takes Thompson & Knight Energy Quartet to Launch Austin Office

Four energy-focused attorneys have joined O’Melveny’s new Austin office as the firm expands its work for “Texas-based companies with global footprints,” O’Melveny chair Bradley Butwin told The Global Legal Post.

The initial Austin team includes partner Philip Oldham, senior counsel Rex VanMiddlesworth, and partners Benjamin Hallmark and Katie Coleman. They will work closely with Intellectual Property and Technology chair Ryan Yagura, who will divide his time between Austin and Los Angeles.

“The firm’s stellar reputation was an obvious draw, but the most compelling attraction was its distinctive culture, commitment to diversity and exemplary teamwork,” Oldham said, commenting on what attracted the team most to O’Melveny.

“All four are top-notch lawyers and recognized leaders in their field whose approach to client service fits nicely with our own,” O’Melveny vice chair Mark Samuels told the publication. “They will be an important part of the team as O’Melveny builds its Texas presence and provides our clients with additional services and support.”
