The Texas Lawbook: Texas Lawyer Hiring Hits Record Highs in 2021, But Firms Still Struggling to Hire More

Texas law firms hired more lawyers in 2021 than they did in any of the past 12 years and expect to hire even more to keep up with the Lone Star state’s growing demand for legal services. According to the Texas Lawbook 50: Lawyer Headcount, firms employed 7,477 lawyers by the end of 2021, signaling a gain of nearly 300, or more than four percent, from the previous year’s total. O’Melveny & Myers LLP, which opened offices in Austin and Dallas last summer, has ambitious plans to expand in the state and “may pop up on the Lawbook 50 soon.”
