The Times Herald: PA Court’s School Funding Decision Hailed by Advocates

Pennsylvania’s public education funding system was declared unconstitutional by Commonwealth Court President Judge Renée Cohn Jubelirer on Tuesday who found that there are severe funding disparities amongst schools across the state. The decision follows a trial that concluded last year in which six school districts claimed that Pennsylvania’s funding formula deprives students in low-income districts of quality educations. “This is an historic win that will change students’ lives and change the future of the Commonwealth,’ said Katrina Robson, a partner at O’Melveny & Myers LLP who represents the plaintiffs.
