The Wall Street Journal: Pennsylvania Must Overhaul Its Unconstitutional School Finance System, Court Finds

Pennsylvania’s public education funding system was declared unconstitutional by a judge yesterday who found that schools are not equitably financed by the state. The decision follows a trial that concluded last summer in which six school districts claimed that Pennsylvania violated the education clause and equal-protection provisions in its constitution, arguing that it deprived students in low-income districts of quality educations. The petitioners, who originally sued the state in 2014, are represented by O’Melveny & Myers LLP, the Education Law Center, and the Public Interest Law Center.
