The Washington Times: Gun Control Groups Ask Supreme Court to Take Up Bump-Stock Ban

Gun control groups, including the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, and Everytown for Gun Safety, filed an amicus brief with the US Supreme Court asking it to take up Cargill v. Garland. The case concerns the banning of bump stocks, a gun accessory that the groups argue converts any gun to a machine gun when attached. “If an invention turns an ordinary gun into a machine gun, it is a machine gun. And it is illegal. ‘Bump stocks’ turn semi-automatic rifles into machine guns. That is their sole purpose,” the brief stated. The groups are represented by O’Melveny & Myers LLP.
