Crain’s New York Business Recognizes Gonzalez and Dubin as “Notable Women in Law”

December 21, 2020

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEW YORK—December 21, 2020—Crain’s New York Business has named partner Mia Gonzalez and counsel Yaira Dubin to its list of 2021 “Notable Women in Law,” which celebrates women lawyers who “were chosen not only for their skills and accomplishments, but also for their efforts to shore up the edifice of justice.”

The special feature honors its recipients’ professional, civic and philanthropic achievements. “In the public and private sectors, domestically and abroad, and across industries and sectors, these lawyers—litigators, dealmakers, prosecutors, defenders and investigators—work to uphold the law as Thomas Hobbes described it: ‘the public conscience,’” Crain’s observed.

In its profile of Gonzalez, Crain’s observed that “white-collar defense and corporate investigations are Mia Gonzalez’s forte—and her track record is as broad as it is impressive.” As Crain’s noted, Gonzalez represents individuals and businesses in complex corporate internal investigations and criminal and regulatory matters, including inquiries by the US Department of Justice, New York attorney general, and Securities and Exchange Commission. Crain’s also hailed Gonzalez’s commitment to pro bono work, such as her recent efforts to improve conditions in New York City jails during the coronavirus pandemic.

In its profile of Dubin, Crain’s noted that she “boasts the uncommon distinction of serving as a clerk at all three levels of the federal judiciary—including a stint with US Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan.” At O’Melveny, where Dubin focuses her practice on appellate advocacy, Crain’s reported, she has “drafted merits briefs for the US Supreme Court, argued successfully in federal and state appellate courts, and prepared appellate briefs on a host of legal matters.” Crain’s also cited her role as an adjunct professor at New York University School of Law, where she teaches a seminar on the US Supreme Court.
