Eleven O’Melveny Lawyers Named to Benchmark Litigation’s “40 & Under Hot List 2019”

NEW YORK—August 9, 2019—Benchmark Litigation has selected eleven O’Melveny partners for its “40 & Under Hot List 2019,” which recognizes “top young talent” in the US and Canada.

This year’s list included David Almeling, Caitlin Bair, Amy Lucas, William Pao, Cassandra Seto, Stephen Sullivan, and Daniel Suvor in the “West” category, and Andrew Bednark, Leah Godesky, Mia Gonzalez, and Edward Moss in the “Northeast” category. In addition to their selection, Moss, Pao, and Suvor were featured in profiles on Benchmark’s website.

In Moss’s profile, Benchmark noted that he is serving as co-lead partner representing Renco Group in an action involving AM General, the manufacturer of HUMVEEs for the US military. In a recently concluded trial, Renco, under Moss’s guidance, asserted nine-figure damages.

Benchmark noted Pao’s representation of Bitmain “in one of the first consumer class actions to hit the cryptocurrency sector.” Prior to this case, Pao represented China Agritech in a securities class action that found its way up to the Supreme Court. The case resulted in a major victory for the defendants, narrowing the application of the tolling principles in the Court’s historic American Pipe decision.

Suvor’s work covers several areas, including white-collar crime, state attorney general investigations, and product liability litigation, Benchmark noted. One of his recent cases includes serving as lead partner in a “high-profile licensing dispute” between electric scooter-startup Bird and the City of Santa Monica. Suvor also helps further the County of Los Angeles’s support of immigrants and local law enforcement priorities.
