Multiple O’Melveny Lawyers Honored with The Legal Aid Society’s 2021 Pro Bono Publico Award

NEW YORK—January 21, 2021—The Legal Aid Society has honored a team of O’Melveny attorneys with its 2021 Pro Bono Publico Award, which identifies legal professionals who have “volunteered their time and talent to provide exceptional legal services to low-income New Yorkers.”

Counsel Gerard Savaresse, associates Craig McAllister, Marie Bonitatibus, and Kevin Koai, and partner Jonathan Rosenberg were recognized for their work returning a client to the United States who was unlawfully deported to the Dominican Republic and obtaining a six-figure judgment against the United States under the Federal Tort Claims Act.

The Legal Aid Society is the country’s oldest and largest provider of legal aid to the indigent. Nearly 3,000 volunteers partner with the organization on behalf of vulnerable New Yorkers and, of those volunteers, 300 are nominated by the Legal Aid staff for the Pro Bono Publico Award. The O’Melveny team’s work contributes to the Legal Aid Society’s “mission that no New Yorker should be denied the right to equal justice because of poverty.”
