O’Melveny Among the Top Fintech Firms in New Chambers Rankings

December 17, 2021

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, DC—December 17, 2021—For the fourth consecutive year, O’Melveny has been named among the top law firms serving financial technology companies in the annual Chambers USA FinTech Legal 2022 rankings. The firm was recognized in the Leading Firms and Blockchain & Cryptocurrencies categories for the second year in a row.

The worldwide ranking service wrote that O’Melveny “has built a high-quality FinTech practice … particularly praised for their expertise in advising on venture financing, representing investee companies and investment funds. Moreover, Chambers wrote, O’Melveny is admired “for its work in the sphere of blockchain and cryptocurrency, including Initial Coin Offering (ICO)-related advice as well as representation in anti-money laundering compliance, government investigations and civil litigation matters.”

“They care about getting it right,” said one client quoted by Chambers, “and they care about finding solutions for the client.”

Driven by tech innovation and market demand, the fintech sector brims with opportunity for investment and growth and yet faces challenges from an uncertain regulatory framework. O’Melveny advises early-stage and established fintech companies, their investors, and other stakeholders on corporate, regulatory, and litigation considerations including private equity and venture capital financing; securities financing; data security and privacy; intellectual property; anti-money laundering, KYC, and Bank Secrecy Act regulations; consumer protection, securities regulations, M&A; capital markets; token offerings; and technology transactions.

The O’Melveny Fintech Group—comprising dealmakers, litigators, former policymakers, and state and federal prosecutors—brings an in-depth understanding of the issues affecting various industry segments, such as cryptocurrency, blockchain, payments, marketplace lending, and robo-advising.

Chambers’ yearly ranking of business lawyers globally is based on “thousands of in-depth interviews with clients” aimed at assessing professional attributes such as “technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness/astuteness, diligence, commitment, and other qualities most valued by the client.”
