O’Melveny Advocates for Abortion Rights in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health
O’Melveny attorneys co-counseled with the Center for Reproduction Rights and another firm before the Supreme Court on behalf of Jackson Women’s Health and women across the country committed to reproductive freedom.
O’Melveny is proud to have argued this critical and closely-watched case in support of upholding 50 years of precedent arising from Roe v. Wade, which granted women a constitutional right to abortion. The Court unfortunately disagreed, upholding in a 6-3 decision a Mississippi law that bans abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy, a decision that overturned Roe v. Wade and gave states the authority to limit abortion access.
Although O’Melveny did not prevail in this matter, the firm is honored to have advocated for reproductive rights in the country’s highest court. Its attorneys continue to fight for women’s access to abortion and reproductive healthcare.
